Like an island breeze blowing through her home state of Hawaii, Hirie has an energy that instantly sets you at ease. As frontwoman for the mesmerizing reggae band of the same name, Hirie paints unforgettable pictures with a heavenly voice that consistently complements the soul-stirring rhythms created by her “stellar band of locos.” Vibrant and full of a warm, embracing spirit, both Hirie’s music and style are true originals.
Tell us a little bit about yourself.
What got you into the music industry?
I was born in the Philippines, raised in Italy for 8 years and Hawaii for 9 beforeREAD MORE moving to California to pursue music. I’ve always been exposed to live music and have had an affinity for performing since I was a child in Rome. I think I finally made the big leap a year and a half or so after having my daughter Beija. The light bulb went off and I just sat there thinking, if I don’t follow my dreams now, I never will.

What are your thoughts on how Original Grain
watches are styled with your look?
Original Grain’s line is just so classy. I feel like I can match it up with literally any of my outfits. There’s a style and color for every occasion. I recently rocked one at the San Diego Padre’s game while singing the National Anthem in a custom Hirie jersey and felt so good! From my tomboy moods, to my classy timeless style, I try to incorporate Original Grain into all of it.
What lessons do you want to
share with your daughter?
I’d love for Beija to see that life isn’t perfect — but we can always strive to make it better. Not just for ourselves, but for those around us. People won’t always be nice to you, but you can choose to be the kindest person in the room. Money doesn’t grow on trees, but laughter is free.
As a mom, how do you stay
close to your daughter while on tour?
My daughter is truly like my best friend. We laugh about so many things and make the most of any situation. When it’s cold out after a show, we love to run into the bus and snuggle under the blanket. It’s honestly one thing I look forward to while being on the road. I love to take her out in the mornings for coffee and hot chocolate or ice-cream.READ MORE We both also love to ditch the guys and go thrifting! She’s a huge antique store fanatic like me!
